It became apparent that a lot of the best sports cars of the 50's and 60's fitted a 600-16 Vintage cross-ply tyres such as the Jaguar XK120, XK140, XK150, Maserati 300 S, Aston Martin DB2, Aston Martin DB2/4, Aston Martin DB mk3 and DB4 all left the factory fitted with tyres the size 600-16. The 600-16 Pilot X is an ideal tyre for these cars.
The 600-16 Michelin Pilot X is effectually a 185 X 16.
Many high performance classic cars like the Ferrari 250 and Maserati Mistral fitted 185x16 tyres. 185 x 16 is the radial equivalent of 600-16 Vintage cross ply. So Michelin developed the 600-16 Pilot X, which is also designed to look reminiscent of the Englebert.
