Lotus Elite Borrani Wire Wheels
- Borrani makes the RW 3405 Borrani Wheel 3.5"x15" for a Series 1 Lotus Elite.
- Borrani makes the RW 3590 Borrani Wheel 4.5"x15" for the Series 2 Elite.
- The RW 3554 Borrani Wheel 4.5"x15" is for the Series 2 Elite.
- All wheels mentioned are aluminium rimmed, knock-on wheels with a large central spinner.
- Series 1 Elites fitted 4.80-15 crossply tires, and soon they switched to 155R15 radial tires.
- The best 155R15 lotus Elite tire is the 155HR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67. The CA67 was the sporting tire of choice in period, and remains the ideal classic Lotus Elite Type 14 tire.
- All tyres require inner tubes when fitted to wire wheels. The ideal tube for 155R15 tires is the Michelin 15E.

The pictures below show a standard MK2 1962 Elite fitted with the 4.5X15 Borrani RW3554 (which is actually a MGA wheel).
A Lotus Elite will handle at it’s very best fitted with the original 155HR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67. The very first Lotus Elites fitted 4.80-15 crossply tires, but the grip and handling was dramatically improved when the series 2 moved on to Pirelli’s amazing Cinturato tires that were the radial tire of choice for sports cars in the period.
