These Pirelli 5.50-16 Stella Bianca are a genuine period tyre made by Pirelli from the 30’s through the 1940s and into the 1950s. The Stella Bianca 5.50-16 was used as a front tyre for the fabulous Maserati 250F which fitted either 6.00-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA on the rear or sometimes depending on the race track 6.50-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA on the rear. These 5.50-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA are also perfect tyres for pre war BMW, Frazer Nash BMW, BMW 501 and Post War Frazer Nash.

The expanding line-up of PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA tyres, particularly the 5.50-16 model, presents a perfect solution for racing cars from the 1940s and 1950s that utilized different-sized tyres on 16” wheels for the front and rear. It is worth noting the incredibly high specification of the 5.50-16 Pirelli Stella Bianca with its V-speed rating of 150mph.

5.50-16 Inner Tubes

Although this Pirelli 5.50-16 Stella Bianca does have the facility to be used without an innertube, it is critical that it can be used in conjunction with an inner tube because of course being from this period, they will often find themselves being fitted onto wire wheels and even Borrani wire wheels in the case of the Vintage Maserati and Ferrari that they will find themselves on. We would suggest the best inner tube for a 5.50-16 tyre is the Michelin 16E13 inner tubes. However, we do also offer the Race Inner Tube (Metal Valve Stem) 5.50-6.50X16. if you want the bolt in metal valve stem that the racing tube offers.
