In 1968 Dunlop developed their next development in radial tires, the SP Sport 68 which was also became known as the SP Sport Aquajet. The SP Sport was adopted by Jaguar among other car manufacturers, because of its aquajets where the design of the Dunlop SP Sport had holes in the side of the tread where the water was supposed to spurt out.

This 185 x 15 SP Sport Aquajet from Dunlop was OE on the series 2 Jaguar XKE E-type from 1968 when the radial tyre became standard equipment where earlier cars had fitted the 6.40H15 Dunlop RS5. It wasn’t until the later series 3 car had power steering when Jaguar moved on to wider low profile 205/70VR15 SP Sport tyres. Or as they were called in the day ER/70VR15 Dunlop SP Sport.
