Throughout the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, the Italian sports car industry celebrated the Stella Bianca as the best performance crossply tire. This was promptly followed by the Cinturato CA67, which came into being in 1952 but took hold with Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo in 1960. The CN72 which stormed the world in 1964 as the biggest tire able to handle the power of mid-60s supercars, Onto Pirelli’s low-profile tires, the CN36 of 1968 and the CN12 of 1971.

Michelin Classic Tires are again a world-leading performance classic tire that is ideally suited to so many Borrani wheel applications. The Michelin X of the late 1940s was the first radial tire; the XAS was the first asymmetric radial tire from 1965, perfect for little sports cars; and the Michelin XWX was a mainstay for Ferrari throughout the 1970s.

Dunlop Classic Tires are still made under license; sadly, there are no road crossply tires, but the fantastic range of Dunlop Racing tires is an integral part of what makes historic racing what it is today. There is also the Dunlop Aquajet in a few important classic car tire sizes, with such an evocative tread pattern from 1968.
